Meet the Author

Well, hello there! I’m Karen Stanaland, writing under the pen name of Katrine Alexander. I’m here to dish all the gossip that’s good.

A little about me… I’m an Ozark Mountain girl who traded the bright lights of Branson for the foothills of the Blue Ridge. I live in a tiny house in a tiny house community with my tiny dogs. I guess it’s no surprise that I like to paint miniature watercolors and build dollhouses and book nooks, and take itsy bitsy scraps of fabric and turn them into quilts.

But there’s no shrinking a good story, and that’s what I love to tell. Whether writing for the education market or plotting my next mystery, words are where my heart sings. It’s carried me through an education degree from Missouri State University, a brief sojourn into performing opera, teaching for nearly 3 decades, to my Master of Fine Arts from University of Arkansas.

I’ve published 10 nonfiction titles, a collection of short stories, dozens of magazine articles, and am now working on my Winkle Creek Mystery series. I hope you’ll join the neighborhood and get in on the gossip…or at least a glass of sweet tea!
