Around the Town
Winkle Creek's City Park has been the heart of community life for generations. Shaded by towering oaks, its winding brick paths lead visitors past a bubbling stone fountain to the old bandstand, where concerts, speeches, and the occasional enthusiastic bluegrass jam still draw a crowd. Children can usually be found on the wooden swings while neighbors linger on benches discussing gardens, grandbabies, and whose tomatoes are coming in first. If you're visiting during the Arts & Crafts Festival, come early—the best quilts disappear before lunch.
